1 am tea rituals

Nothing makes you feel as alive as getting into all white bedding with a cup of tea.

Tea is close to my heart, not just because Im addicted to it, but because it reminds me of my mother and my sisters and our chai sessions. Huddling around the tea trolley we would discuss fabric cuttings and design our clothes, munch on cake rusks and laugh loudly while every few minutes I’d whisper, shhhh babas sleeping!

Moving to Australia, I found I hated drinking tea as it made me miss home even more. But as time went by I found solace in tea time, drama much? I’d sip and call mum on Skype and talk to her making sure I was using the same mug she was because it made me feel closer to her.

After becoming a mum, tea time slowly became me time, of course I’d be sipping cups of tea all day, heating and reheating, but after putting the baby to bed, and getting done with the day, I’d make that final cup, sink into the sofa and sip away all my worries. If it was the weekend and I was lucky enough to wake up before the little one, I’d wake up to a cup of tea ready and resume the sipping. (Thank you husband!) I mention the tea sipping so much because it is pivotal to how I get creative during the day.

Now that I have two, moved from Australia, to Dubai and currently in Houston, life is passing me by fast. The morning cup, now reheats to become the afternoon cup and sits forgotten and forlorn in the cancerous microwave waiting for its evening upgrade finally being sipped to its entirety. I decided to share my life when I first moved to Australia some 8 years ago via blogging, but never got around it. Time has passed by so quick, and taught me so much, that I think now might be the best time to share my ramblings with whoever is “waila”enough to listen to me on the world wide web.

Here I’ll be blogging about everything interiors and styling and food and family, faith and some mom truths while I sip away my recycled tea. So come on, grab a cuppa and oh before I forget, Hi! Im Zona, perpetually, socially awkward and misplaced. Thank you for being here =)
